| Sumario: | Contribution to a knowledge of the Ripiphoridae (Coleoptera) of Argentina.- The present paper deals with the Ripiphoridae of the Argentine Republic and is divided into two parts.- In the first part, following a short introduction, reference is made to the morphology of the adults of this family giving examples of some of its genera and this is followed by notes on the biology of some of the species for which data is available.- The second part consist of a taxonomic study of the family with a key for the separation of the subfamilies. The genera Trigonodera and Elytroxystrotus nov. belonging to the subfamily Pelacotaninae are described in detail with keys for their respective species. The general structure of the adults of the genus Trigonodera is studied and compared with that of the species Trigonodera signaticollis Gerstaecker which is fully described and ilustrated.- A new genus under the name Elytroxystrotus is proposed for the species Pelecotomoides griseovittata Pic (1926) and five new species, of Trigonodera, haywardi, variegata, crassa, bicolor and quadrilineata, are described, all from Argentina. Localities for all the material studied are given and the paper concludes with a list of the principal publications referring to this family.- |
